The Stormtech Avalante SSJ-2 is the longer, more capable version of the 3-in-1 range. Its extended cut covers the hips and reduces the need for a waterproof overtrousers in wet conditions. Its H2XTREME® 10K/5K membrane and high-loft zip-out liner make it a formidable system from -10°C to -30°C* — all year round, every situation. Women's version available.

Thermal Protection & Modularity

Recommended use from -10°C to -30°C*. The SSJ-2 works across three configurations:

Shell alone — waterproof and windproof, ideal from +15°C to -10°C for active use.
Liner alone — high-performance insulating jacket, perfect in cold, dry conditions.
Shell + Liner — full system for extreme winter conditions down to -30°C.

How to get the best from it?

The Grand-Froid 3-Layer System:

1st layer — breathable thermal base layer: wool for versatility and natural comfort, synthetic for breathability and value. Both work — the key is that it moves moisture away from the skin
2nd layer — the SSJ-2 liner: high-performance insulating jacket — warm, breathable, usable alone or zipped into the shell
3rd layer — the SSJ-2 shell: waterproof and windproof outer protection — fully sealed seams, long protective cut

Tip: Get dressed in a cool environment just before heading out — layering up in a heated room saturates your base layers with moisture and reduces their effectiveness from the very first minutes of exposure.

Washing: 30°C maximum, gentle cycle, zips closed — wash shell and liner separately
Drying: hang to dry or tumble dry on a low heat setting
Do not: iron or dry clean
DWR reactivation: after washing, tumble dry the shell on low heat for 20 minutes to restore the durable water repellent finish
