The James & Nicholson JN824 workwear softshell pairs a 3-layer TPU membrane (windproof, water-repellent 2,000 mm, breathable 2,000 g/m²/24h) with a quilted thermal lining and heat-reflective back that bounces the body's warmth back. Cordura®-reinforced shoulders take the abrasion, the BIONIC-FINISH®ECO finish repels water and dirt (PFC-free), and 3M reflective details boost visibility. Detachable hood, fleece-lined stand-up collar: a true workwear jacket for extreme cold (down to -25°C).

Thermal protection

Built for extreme cold, down to -25°C*, it combines a windproof, water-repellent softshell outer with a heat-reflective thermal lining. Felt warmth depends on wind, humidity, exposure time and the layering worn underneath.

How to use it in winter?

The JN824 is the outer protective layer. For deep cold, apply the 3-layer principle:

1st layer (transfer): a breathable thermal base layer that wicks sweat
2nd layer (insulation): a fleece or light down jacket that traps warm air
3rd layer (protection): the JN824 softshell, windproof and water-repellent, with its thermal lining

In moderate cold, the built-in thermal lining can be enough over a base layer; add the 2nd layer as the temperature drops.
