The Stormtech Ascent EP-2 makes no compromises on technicality. This "Hard Shell" pant uses a high-performance 3-layer structure that wicks away internal moisture while blocking the path of the most brutal weather. Whether for challenging trekking or outdoor work, its robustness makes it a cornerstone of your protective gear. Matching parka available.

Grand Froid Expertise

"The Ascent EP-2 is the pant we recommend as soon as the weather becomes unpredictable. Its 3-layer membrane is incredibly breathable, avoiding the 'greenhouse effect' during exertion.

Although rated for a -10°C range, it is a modular garment: with a quality merino wool thermal base layer, you can safely drop to -20°C or -25°C, similar to the EPK parka range. This is pure technical apparel, designed to last for years."

Thermal Protection

Recommended use between -10°C and +5°C (14°F to 41°F)*. This shell pant is designed to be worn over a thermal layer. Its effectiveness relies on its 100% windproof capacity which preserves the heat generated by your technical base layers. With a high-performance base layer, its use can be extended to much lower temperatures.

How to use it effectively?

The Grand Froid 3-layer system:

1st layer — breathable thermal base layer: wool for versatility and natural comfort, synthetic for breathability and price. Both work — the key is that it wicks away body moisture
2nd layer — mid-layer: this is the adjustment variable. Thin and breathable for intense physical activities, thick and insulating for passive activities or long cold exposures
3rd layer — Ascent EP-2 pant: complete outer protection against wind, rain, and snow

Tip: Wear a breathable thermal base layer as your first layer — strictly avoid cotton which retains moisture and chills the body.
