Huppa has equipped Estonian winters since 1997 and knows what a winter day asks of a base layer: keep warm outside, don't overheat inside. The KIMI set — long-sleeved top and long johns — is knitted in a double-face fabric of 220 g/m²: merino wool on the outer face, bamboo on the face that touches the skin, a nylon thread for shape retention.
Worn as a base layer, next to the skin, under a fleece and a coat. Close-to-body cut that follows movement without compressing. Sizes S to 3XL on this reference, i.e. EU 36 to 48 on the manufacturer's chart.
Two pieces sold together, for a top and a bottom of the same weight and the same fabric, washed and worn the same way.

Tartu, a Tuesday in January: out on foot at −16 °C / 3 °F, a day in an open-plan office at 26 °C / 79 °F — in the North they heat well above our 18 to 20 °C / 64 to 68 °F — and home after dark. The set stays on all day, and that is the test of a base layer: staying dry when you're warm, not freezing outside. Wear it next to the skin, no cotton underneath: merino only gives its best in contact with the skin.
What is it designed for?
A base layer for winter days that alternate outside and inside, effort and waiting, with no chance to change.

Thermal protection
Merino fibre is crimped: it traps air within its thickness and keeps insulating once it has absorbed moisture, up to a third of its weight without feeling damp. The bamboo face, next to the skin, picks up perspiration and passes it to the wool, which lets it evaporate outwards: you stay dry during effort and warm as soon as you stop. At 220 g/m² the knit is thick enough to hold on its own as a base layer in serious cold, thin enough to go under a jumper. The −20 °C / −4 °F rating assumes a fleece and a coat on top: a base layer never replaces the other two. Hands, head and feet need their own protection. Bamboo, like wool, is soft and naturally odour-resistant.

Care & Durability
- Machine wash at 30 °C / 86 °F, wool or delicate cycle, mild detergent, no fabric softener
- Turn both pieces inside out before washing
- Tumble dry on low or dry flat, never on a radiator
- Do not iron; a pass of steam is enough
- Merino needs washing less often than cotton: air between wears

Why choose this Huppa KIMI women's base layer set?

The three-layer system:
