The Nation Plus is the men's Canadian boot from Kamik, the Montréal maker founded in 1898. A suede upper with sealed seams and 600D nylon reinforcements, a synthetic rubber base and outsole: the construction that keeps slush and road salt away from the foot.

What sets it apart is its removable HEAT-MX™ 145 g liner, fleece-lined. It pulls out in one movement to dry overnight, goes back in the morning and can be replaced when it wears before the boot does — moisture building up inside a boot is the first cause of a cold foot; this liner deals with it at the source. A 28 cm shaft covers the ankle and the lower calf against snow coming in from the top.

Hook lacing, a firm grip. Available in EU sizes 41 to 46.

Thermal protection

Men's fit, true to size. To measure: stand barefoot on a sheet of paper with your heel against the wall, mark the tip of your longest toe and read the length off the table. To choose: your usual size for everyday wear; one size up if you wear thick wool socks or stand outside for hours — the liner needs room to insulate.

Take the liner out after every wet day and dry it separately
