A true winter piece, with or without a jacket

On a long assignment, the cold sets the limit of what you can do outdoors. The RefrigiWear Softshell 0495R bib overalls push that limit back: over 400 g of insulation under a water-repellent, wind-tight 100% polyester softshell. Its reflective Silver Twill lining sends body heat back to you. The above-knee leg zips make getting them on and off quick; the reinforced, adjustable Y-back suspenders hold the bib overalls in place. Comfort down to −29 °C (−20 °F)*.

Grand Froid Expertise

On the same job you walk, crouch, kneel and wait. Worn alone or with a jacket, the 0495R bib overalls cover the chest and legs. With a bodywarmer (sleeveless vest) over the top, your arms keep even more freedom of movement. Users have worn them in Siberia, with a microfleece underneath and a fleece on top.

How to use the 0495R — The layering system

The 0495R is the outer layer of a system, alone or with a jacket, on the move or standing still. Its performance depends on what you wear underneath: choose layers for the job, not just for the temperature.

1st layer: breathable thermal underwear that wicks perspiration away. Avoid cotton.
2nd layer: the adjustable one. Microfleece under the bib overalls. Fleece over them when the job is static.
3rd layer: the 0495R, which brings insulation and protects from the wind.
In addition: a bodywarmer (sleeveless vest) over the bib overalls keeps your arms free.

Complete severe cold kit:

Chest: cold-weather jacket, parka or bodywarmer. Head: insulating hat or balaclava, neck gaiter. Hands: thin liner gloves + cold-weather gloves or mittens. Feet: thermal socks + insulated footwear suited to the temperature.

Field tip: leave room for the layers. Clothing that is too tight reduces circulation and removes the volume of air that insulates.
