A work fleece that shows up in headlights : reflective bands run across the front and the back, where a colleague or a driver looks for you.
The outer fabric is structured, dense and water-repellent : drizzle beads off rather than soaking in. Inside, a fleece-effect lining holds warm air, and the stand-up collar closes the upper chest in one movement.
Keep it on from the first task to the last : it goes under a harness as easily as under a site vest, and the collar closes when the wind picks up. The habit to build is to open the zip two thirds of the way rather than take it off when the effort rises.
On its own, in dry and still conditions, this fleece covers cold down to −20 °C / −4 °F. As soon as air moves, the perceived cold drops : under a windproof layer, it becomes the insulating layer of the system, and the working temperature of the whole then depends on the shell.
Because it does two jobs at once : it holds the air the body has warmed, and it makes you visible as the light goes. Wear it over a thermal base layer, and under a parka on the days the wind gets up.
