Suede and nylon without the bulk: the men's boot that keeps the heat in and the slush out
The Fargo 2 is the men's winter boot from Kamik, the Canadian winter-boot maker based in Montréal since 1898. Lighter, yet still tough, it pairs a genuine suede upper with sealed seams and nylon details with a synthetic rubber shell that keeps slush, salt and cold outside.
Inside, the HEAT-MX™ 145 g insulation is fixed, with a fleece lining and an 8 mm Zylex felt footbed: there is no liner to take out. The waterproof gusseted tongue and padded collar close the top of the boot.
The D-ring lacing gives a firm hold, and the lugged, self-cleaning GRIP XT outsole grips on wet, icy and uneven ground. Available in EU sizes 41 to 45.
Grand-Froid expert's viewThe D-ring lacing tightens in stages: pull the instep snug and leave the top of the shaft a little looser so you do not restrict circulation. With fixed insulation, take your own size and a Norveg merino sock: the foot stays put. Only go up a size for very thick socks.
What is it designed for?
The Fargo 2 is made for winter days that do not quit, from the commute to clearing the snow outside the house.
- Daily trips in snow: work, shopping, frozen pavements, slush
- Snow clearing and outdoor chores: shovel, bins, digging the car out
- Ice fishing with friends: several hours on the ice, to pair with a warm sock
- Festive outings and winter days out: Christmas markets, family walks, long hours standing in the cold
- Winter stays in Québec or Scandinavia: the everyday boot you pack for the trip
- Pair with the Norveg men's merino thermal socks for a warm foot all day long
Thermal protection
Warmth comes from several layers: the HEAT-MX™ 145 g insulation holds the air warmed by the foot, the fleece lining moves perspiration away and the Zylex felt footbed insulates from the ground. The −40 °C / −40 °F comfort rating applies on the move: as long as you are walking, the foot produces its heat and the boot keeps it. Standing still — fishing, waiting, working on frozen ground — the cold from the ground takes over: add a warm wool sock and choose the size that leaves the foot free, a compressed foot gets cold.

Size guide
Men's fit. To measure: lay a sheet of paper flat against a wall, stand on it barefoot with your heel right against the wall, mark the tip of your longest toe, then measure from the edge of the paper to the mark. Read the result in the "Foot length" column. To choose: your usual size; one size up if you plan on very thick wool socks, a stay in severe cold or long days standing still outside. The insulation is fixed and does not pack down with use.
| EU size | US men's size | Foot length |

Care & Durability
- Rinse mud, salt and residue off the shell with lukewarm water
- Let the suede dry at room temperature, then brush it gently; never against a radiator or stove, direct heat hardens the suede and warps the rubber shell
- No washing machine or tumble dryer
- Repairs by a cobbler, no home glue

Why choose the Fargo 2?
A lighter boot that brings together a suede upper with sealed seams and a rubber shell: the shell takes the slush and salt where a boot wears, the upper stays flexible when walking. The fixed insulation, fleece lining and felt footbed do the rest, with no liner to pull out and dry separately.
Why the feet lose heat first:
- Contact with the ground: on snow or a frozen pavement, heat drains downwards by conduction, continuously, for as long as you stand
- Reduced circulation: in the cold the body protects the core first and cuts blood flow to the extremities — the feet cool down before anything else
- Trapped moisture: a foot that sweats inside a boot that does not breathe cools through damp, however well insulated
Feet that stay cold often point to heat lost elsewhere — cover the head first. Under the boot, the Norveg men's thermal socks complete the system. In slush it is the salt that wears a boot out, not the cold: a rinse in the evening buys it winters.
* Indicative temperature. Perceived warmth varies with activity, body type, humidity, wind and the layers worn underneath.
