Thermal Protection & Modularity

Recommended use from 0°C to -20°C*. The SSJ-1W works across three configurations:

Shell alone — waterproof and windproof, ideal from +15°C to 0°C for active use.
Liner alone — lightweight insulating fleece, perfect for cool dry conditions or indoor wear.
Shell + Liner — full system for severe winter conditions down to -20°C.

How to get the best from it?

The Grand-Froid 3-Layer System:

1st layer — breathable thermal base layer: wool for versatility and natural comfort, synthetic for breathability and value. Both work — the key is that it moves moisture away from the skin
2nd layer — the SSJ-1W liner: the integrated insulating fleece — warm, breathable, usable alone or zipped into the shell
3rd layer — the SSJ-1W shell: waterproof and windproof outer protection against rain, wind and snow

Tip: Get dressed in a cool environment just before heading out — layering up in a heated room saturates your base layers with moisture and reduces their effectiveness from the very first minutes of exposure.

Drying: hang to dry or tumble dry on a low heat setting
Do not: iron or dry clean
DWR reactivation: after washing, tumble dry the shell on low heat for 20 minutes to restore the durable water repellent finish
