The back of the hand takes as much as the palm

On a building site, the back of the hand takes as much as the palm. A neoprene band shields the knuckles from knocks against a crate, a stud or a door frame.

3M Recycled Thinsulate™ EC60 insulation stays slim so the fingers still bend. The palm is Dryhide™ treated full-grain leather, water resistant, with reinforced thumb and fingertips. The spandex back moulds to the hand, and the knit cuff closes the wrist under the sleeve.

In winter it is not thickness that runs short, it is mechanical protection. The neoprene band over the knuckles takes the everyday knocks, and the knit cuff holds off the cold without leaving an air gap. The glove stays supple enough to turn a screw and handle stock.

Recycled Thinsulate™ EC60 insulation holds the air your hand has warmed within a slim build, which preserves dexterity. The knit cuff plays a part at least as large: it closes the air passage between glove and sleeve, where heat escapes first. The Dryhide™ treatment keeps water at bay without making the glove waterproof: under sustained rain or immersion, moisture eventually gets through. Over long exposures, a thin liner glove added underneath widens the comfort range.

Why choose the Ratchet 9013?

Two things set it apart from an ordinary winter glove: the neoprene band that shields the back of the hand when it knocks into something, and the knit cuff that stops cold air travelling up your sleeve.

Hands cold even though you are wearing gloves? Three reasons, and none of them is thickness:
