The genuine liner for the Hunter
In a moulded boot, the shell lasts years: it is the liner that wears out. This one carries the same Tri-Fit system as the factory fit on the Hunter, in three layers with distinct jobs — a PolyWick™ lining that transfers moisture and evaporates it outside the fabric, a high-density insulation layer, and a vaporised aluminium membrane that reflects energy back to the foot. It slides into the boot with no adaptation, lifts out to dry, and washes by hand. Sold in pairs, white, EUR sizes 39 to 47.
The Grand-Froid expert view
A moulded boot is completely waterproof, and that is exactly what makes its liner decisive: nothing clears through the upper, no vapour passes through the rubber. All the perspiration produced during the day stays inside, and the only way to get it out is to take the liner out in the evening. It is also why the liner ages faster than the shell: it takes, day after day, everything the boot will not let through. Replacing it restores the original comfort temperature without touching a shell that has lost nothing at all.
What is it for?
This liner is for Hunter owners, in several situations.
- Replacement after wear: when the boot is still sound but the inside has packed down and no longer holds the original temperature
- Second set in rotation: a dry liner every morning, without waiting for overnight drying — the arrangement for jobs in continuous cold

Thermal protection
The Tri-Fit system spreads three functions across three layers. Against the foot, the PolyWick™ lining picks up perspiration and carries it to the outside of the fabric, where it evaporates: that is the layer that decides whether the insulation stays dry. Above it, a high-density insulation layer traps air, which is the real insulator — it is not the thickness of the material that keeps you warm, but the volume of air it holds. On the surface, a vaporised aluminium membrane reflects the energy the foot gives off back towards it, rather than letting it disappear into the shell. It is this assembly that degrades with use: the fibre packs down under body weight, the volume of air falls, and the comfort temperature rises without anything showing.

How to fit it
Three steps, no tools.
- Take out the old liner: pull from the collar, without forcing on the heel
- Check inside the shell: clear out sand, grit or residual damp before fitting
- Feed the new liner in heel first, then unfold the collar to shaft height and put the boot on
Care & Durability
- Wash in warm water with a mild detergent and a soft brush
- No machine wash, no spin, no tumble dryer: the structure of the fibre does not recover from it
- Dry in open air, away from any direct heat source
- Take the liner out of the boot after each day worn: in a moulded boot, that is the only way to clear the damp
- Before storing, check the liner is completely dry, then keep it somewhere dark, dry and cool, without compression

Why replace a liner?
Because a work boot is not judged by the state of its shell. The rubber and the outsole last years; the inside takes perspiration, compression and body heat every single day. Replacing the part that wears rather than the whole boot extends the working life of the equipment and restores the original comfort temperature.
Three signs the time has come:
- The boot has become less warm: the insulation has packed down under body weight and the volume of air, which is the real insulator, has fallen without the apparent thickness changing
- The foot moves around: the liner no longer returns to shape, hold is lost and pockets of cold air appear at the heel
- Damp no longer clears: the liner is still lukewarm in the morning after a night of drying, a sign that the transfer layer has reached its limit
A new liner in a sound shell is worth a new boot, for a fraction of the budget.
