The RefrigiWear Endurance Drive 8212R is built for long work in the cold. Its 220 g polyester insulation and breathable mesh back lining keep the warmth in a light garment. The 600 denier polyester outer fabric resists abrasion. Flex panels at the shoulders leave the arms free to handle instruments and tools. Comfort rating down to −34 °C (−30 °F)*. How to use the 8212R — The layering system

The 8212R is the outer layer of a thermal system. With 220 g of insulation, its performance depends a lot on what you wear underneath.

1st layer: breathable underwear in merino wool or technical synthetic. Its job is to wick moisture away from the body.
2nd layer: the adjustable one. Thin (light fleece) for active roles. Thick (dense fleece) for static roles such as test monitoring, where lack of movement makes the cold feel stronger.
3rd layer: the 8212R, paired with the Endurance Drive 7212R bib overalls to cover the lower body.

Complete extreme cold kit:

Head: insulating hat or balaclava, neck gaiter. Hands: thin liner gloves + cold-weather gloves or mittens. Feet: thermal socks + insulated footwear suited to the temperature.

Field tip: Put the jacket on in the airlock, just before entering the sub-zero area. A heated office saturates your layers with moisture. Open the back vent flap when moving through temperate areas to prevent condensation inside.
