The Vegas Softshell Jacket CXS is the ultimate solution for freezing, wet days. It merges the protection of a waterproof windbreaker (10,000 mm water column) and the insulation of a thermal winter coat down to -15°C (padding + fleece).
Designed for active work, it features underarm ventilation zips to release sweat without opening the jacket. A detachable hood, lined cuffs, and drawstring hem block all cold draughts. Extreme sizes available from XS to 6XL.
The ideal 2-in-1 shield (windbreaker and integrated fleece) for intense outdoor efforts.
An unlined softshell lets the cold in the moment you stop moving, and a heavy parka turns into a sauna as soon as physical work starts. The Vegas takes the problem from the middle. On the outside, its breathable TPU membrane blocks wind and water with a 10,000 mm water column outside the seam areas. Inside, it is insulated by padding and a lining that combines several materials with fleece, which removes the need for a heavy jumper underneath. The clever part is the underarm ventilation zips: they release body heat during hard effort without opening the front of the jacket and exposing the chest to the cold.
This is the hybrid jacket you keep on from the car park to the site without ever taking it off. The underarm zips are the detail that changes the day: open them before you get too warm, not after you have sweated. Open as the effort builds, close them at the break. The hood comes off if it gets in the way under a helmet, and the inner cuffs stop cold air travelling up the arms.
The warmth of this jacket works on two fronts. At the surface, the TPU membrane stops rain and wind, the first cause of heat loss as soon as it picks up beyond a few kilometres an hour. Inside, the padding and fleece build a body of warm air that the body keeps topped up. But that is exactly where a heavily insulated jacket has its weakness: if it keeps outside water out, it can trap your own. That is why breathability of 3,000 g/m²/24 h and the manual underarm zips matter as much as the insulation itself. A jacket closed over a sweat-soaked base layer protects far less well than one vented at the right moment.
Because it combines windproofing and insulation, and lets you adapt what you wear underneath to the effort rather than to the forecast. One layer fewer to manage, one zip to open.
The three-layer system:
A jacket that covers two roles still needs the base layer: that is what decides whether the heat you produce stays usable.
* Indicative temperature. Perceived warmth varies with activity, body type, humidity, wind and the layers worn underneath.
