The Snowgem is the women's winter boot from Kamik, the Canadian winter-boot maker based in Montréal since 1898. It is made for snow days and winter adventures: an upper of genuine leather and nylon with sealed seams, set on a waterproof, flexible synthetic rubber shell. The gusseted tongue keeps water and snow out.
Inside, the HEAT-MX™ 145 g insulation holds the warmth and the fleece lining moves moisture away from the foot. The EVA foam footbed is removable.
The dual-density outsole cleans itself in snow, and the lacing sets the fit on the foot. Available in EU sizes 38 to 41.
The Snowgem is built for snow: at the back, a heel lug holds a snowshoe strap and helps you pull the boot off. Take your usual size, or one size up if you wear thick socks such as the Norveg merino socks. In the evening, take the footbed out: it air-dries on its own.
Warmth comes from two elements working together: the HEAT-MX™ 145 g insulation holds the air warmed by the foot, the fleece lining moves perspiration away, which stops the foot cooling through damp. The −40 °C / −40 °F comfort rating applies on the move: as long as you are walking, the foot produces its heat and the boot keeps it. Standing still — waiting, working on frozen ground — the cold from the ground takes over: add a warm wool sock and choose the size that leaves the foot free, a compressed foot gets cold.
A boot that pairs a leather and nylon upper with sealed seams with a rubber shell: the shell takes the slush and salt where a boot wears, the upper stays flexible when walking. The HEAT-MX™ insulation and fleece lining do the rest, with a removable footbed that dries on its own.
Why the feet lose heat first:
Feet that stay cold often point to heat lost elsewhere — cover the head first. Under the boot, the Norveg women's thermal socks complete the system. In slush it is the salt that wears a boot out, not the cold: a rinse in the evening buys it winters.
