- The ideal glove for handling medium to heavy loads.
This Benson jacket is the winter version of the range: padded at 140 g/m², with a detachable hood stowed in the collar and a fleece-lined collar. Its taped seams and Oxford fabric, water resistant up to 2,000 mm, hold rain and wind at bay.
Severe Cold protection, down to −20 °C*. Meets EN ISO 20471 class 2, EN 343 and EN 14058.
* Indicative temperature. Perceived warmth varies with activity, body type, humidity, wind and the layers worn underneath.
This Benson jacket is the winter version of the range. Its 140 g/m² polyester padding runs through the whole body, its collar is lined with fleece and its hood stows in the collar, then comes off completely. The Oxford fabric is water resistant up to 2,000 mm and its seams are taped. The adjustments close the garment wherever air gets in: adjustable cuffs, a drawcord hem, a covered centre-front zip. Visibility runs through segmented reflective tape, and a detachable ID card holder sits in the right chest pocket.
A hood is only any use if you have it with you on the day it rains. This one is stowed in the collar: it is always there, and it still comes off on the days it gets in the way. It is the kind of detail you notice the first morning a shower arrives without warning, and forget about afterwards because it works.
The polyester padding insulates by holding still air between its fibres, and the Oxford fabric stops the wind replacing that air. On this jacket both effects are given figures by EN 14058, the standard for cold environments: the thermal resistance of the finished garment is measured at 0.213 m²·K/W, and air permeability is rated class 3, the most favourable level of the standard — that is the class that expresses how well it blocks the wind. On the rain side, the fabric resists water penetration up to 2,000 mm and the taped seams close off the needle perforations, the only route left for water once the fabric is treated; protection is rated class 3 under EN 343. Then come the openings: the fleece-lined collar closes off the neck, rich in blood vessels and close to the surface, while the adjustable cuffs and the drawcord hem keep warm air inside. For visibility, the jacket meets EN ISO 20471 at class 2.
Because it brings together the three standards that matter outdoors in winter: visibility with EN ISO 20471, rain with EN 343, and cold with EN 14058, whose insulation figure is measured on the finished garment. The hood stows in the collar, the collar is lined with fleece, and the ID card holder detaches without opening the jacket.
