- The ideal glove for handling medium to heavy loads.
The Benson jacket reinforces the shoulder — the point that carries loads and rubs against materials — with a CORDURA panel, a high-tenacity nylon weave built to resist abrasion. Its 5 cm segmented reflective tape follows the bend of the arm and the torso.
Meets EN ISO 20471, class 2 — and class 3 when worn with the Benson trousers.
The Benson jacket puts its technical material where the garment works hardest. The shoulders take a CORDURA panel, at the point that carries loads and rubs against materials. Visibility runs through 5 cm segmented reflective tape, cut so that it follows the bend of the arm and the torso. The rest organises the working day: a zipped chest pocket on the left, a flap pocket on the right with a detachable ID card holder, a pencil pocket on the left sleeve, zipped side pockets and cuffs adjustable with a touch fastener.
A visibility class is not read on the garment alone, but on the complete outfit. This jacket is rated class 2 worn on its own; paired with the Benson trousers, the set is rated class 3, the highest level of the standard. That is what counts when a risk assessment calls for class 3: the answer is not a brighter jacket, it is hi-vis trousers or bib overalls.
Reflective tape does not light up: it returns the light it receives back towards its source, whether that is a pair of headlights or a head torch. So it only works while it stays clean and readable. Here the tape is segmented at a width of 5 cm: the segmenting lets it follow the bend of the elbow and the torso without creasing, and stay readable while you move. The fluorescent fabric does the other half of the work, by day and in poor light, when there is no source to light the tape. On the wear side, CORDURA is a high-tenacity nylon weave: it takes abrasion far better than ordinary workwear fabric, which is why it sits at the shoulders rather than across the whole garment. The jacket meets EN ISO 20471 at class 2; worn with the Benson trousers, the set reaches class 3. The class required on a given site depends on the employer's risk assessment.
Because it puts the reinforcement at the shoulder, where a site garment wears through first, and keeps the rest soft. The segmented tape follows the movement, the ID card holder detaches without opening the jacket, and pairing it with the Benson trousers takes the outfit up to class 3.
