The Stormtech Nautilus QX-1W is a women's quilted jacket designed for everyday cold. The quilted body with ultra-soft lining delivers immediate warmth and a pleasant feel against the skin or over a base layer, while the outer shell in 100 % polyester pongee, 90 g/m², carries a durable water-repellent DWR finish. The insulation is synthetic and feather-free. Comfort from +5 °C / 41 °F to −10 °C / 14 °F*, from XS to 3XL. Its straight cut stays slim under a coat and keeps a clean line worn on its own.
In Canada you wear it on its own through October and April, then under the parka all winter. It stays on at the desk, slim enough to work in, warm enough for an under-heated open plan office. The ultra-soft lining spares you the cold nylon shock over a simple jumper. Keep it within reach year round.
The quilted body traps warm air against the body, and the ultra-soft lining limits heat loss at contact while staying comfortable directly on the skin. The full-length internal stormflap doubles the zip line up to the chin, while the elasticated cuffs and the adjustable hem close the openings where cold air gets in. Breathability measured at 1,000 g/m² suits moderate activity and long wear. One limit must be clear: this model is water-repellent and not waterproof, it sheds a short shower but not sustained rain.
Because warmth should not cost you bulk. The ultra-soft lining makes the jacket pleasant from the moment you put it on, the slim quilting holds down to −10 °C / 14 °F* while keeping a straight cut that stays clean under a coat, and the adjustable hem shapes the waist. The feather-free insulation does not migrate through the fabric and washes without special care.
The Grand-Froid three-layer system: a breathable thermal base layer moves moisture away from the skin; an insulating 2nd layer, here the Nautilus QX-1W, traps body heat; a 3rd layer protects from wind and water. This model is at its best as a 2nd layer, under a waterproof outer shell once rain sets in or the temperature drops below −10 °C / 14 °F.
* Indicative thermal comfort from +5 °C / 41 °F to −10 °C / 14 °F. Perceived warmth depends on activity level, wind, humidity, body type and the layering system worn underneath.
