Cold takes the fingertips long before it takes the rest of the hand

A work glove that holds warmth without turning the hand into a mitt. 3M Recycled Thinsulate™ EC60 insulation stays slim: it traps the air your hand has warmed, and lets the fingers bend.

The palm is Dryhide™ treated full-grain goatskin, keeping water out for up to three hours. The back, in stretch spandex, follows every movement. Leather hoods cover the fingertips and the thumb carries extra padding: that is where the glove wears through, and where cold gets in first.

One January morning in Québec, thirty seconds bare-handed explain why extremities need their own treatment. The leather hoods over the fingertips cover the area that chills first, and the elastic wrist with Velcro® closure shuts the air gap a sleeve leaves open. Goatskin keeps enough give to turn a screw, fasten a strap, grip a handle.

What is it designed for?

A winter glove is chosen on hours spent outside as much as on the thermometer. These are the situations the 9005W was built around.

Thermal protection

Warmth comes from Recycled Thinsulate™ EC60: very fine fibres hold the air your hand has heated within a slim build, which is what preserves dexterity. On the longest days outside, adding a thin liner glove underneath extends the comfort range, and it comes off on its own for a precise task. On water, the Dryhide™ treatment is stated effective for up to three hours of exposure; past that, and under immersion, the hide takes on water.
