How to use the 0790R — The 3-Layer Extreme Cold System

The 0790R is the 3rd layer of a complete thermal system. Its performance depends on what you wear underneath — and what else you protect.

1st layer: breathable base layer — merino wool or synthetic technical fabric. Single purpose: wick moisture away from the body.
2nd layer: the adjustable variable. Light — fleece or hybrid jacket — for physical trades. Heavy — 400g fleece — for static posts where lack of movement amplifies the cold.
3rd layer: the 0790R and the 0795R bib seal the system. Worn as a pair, no part of the body is exposed.

Complete extreme cold kit:

Head: insulated hat or balaclava, face mask, neck gaiter. Hands: thin liner gloves + extreme cold gloves or mittens. Feet: thermal socks + insulated boots rated for the temperature.

More is more, less is less: the 0790R is built for extreme cold — it works perfectly in milder cold by simply removing a mid-layer.

Field tip: Dress in a cool space just before going out — suiting up in a heated office or locker room saturates your layers with moisture and cuts their effectiveness in the first minutes of exposure. In extreme cold, that mistake costs you immediately.

Care instructions

Washing: machine wash at 30 °C maximum, delicate cycle, no fabric softener — softener destroys the membrane's DWR treatment.
Drying: hang to air dry only. No tumble dryer, no radiator.
DWR reactivation: after several washes, 10 minutes in the tumble dryer on low heat or a light steam iron through a cloth reactivates the DWR treatment.
