The JN1872 overshirt is a fully padded work shirt, rated down to −10 °C / 14 °F and offered from XS to 4XL. The outer polyester fabric weighs 210 g/m²; lining and padding are polyester across the whole garment, hood included. That hood is elasticated fleece, smooth on the outside and brushed inside. The placket runs the full length and closes with press studs, so this overshirt opens in one movement when you step back into the heat. Wear it like a heavy shirt, over a thermal base layer.

What is it designed for?

The JN1872 is built for days cut in two: a few minutes outside, an hour in the warm, then outside again. That rhythm is what makes an over-warm garment unwearable, because you head back out already damp from the previous crossing.

Thermal protection

The JN1872 is rated down to −10 °C / 14 °F. Its polyester padding traps a volume of insulating air across the whole garment, hood included, and the brushed fleece hood limits heat loss at the nape. This is a mid layer: it insulates, it stops neither wind nor rain. As soon as air starts moving — real wind or wind created by travelling — this overshirt needs an outer shell over the top.

Why choose the JN1872 overshirt?

Polyester padding across the whole garment, a 210 g/m² outer fabric, a brushed fleece hood and a full-length press-stud opening: the JN1872 insulates like a thick mid layer and comes off as fast as a shirt. That double character is what makes it wearable all day when you are constantly in and out.

The three-layer system:

1st layer — base: next to the skin. Captures body heat and moves perspiration outwards.
2nd layer — mid layer (role of this product): insulates and holds warm air around the body. Stops neither wind nor rain.
3rd layer — outer: shell, softshell jacket or padded gilet. Blocks wind and holds warmth. In sustained rain, a hardshell takes over.

Without a base layer, the insulation works on damp skin — the chain is broken.
