A technical, insulated jacket, waterproof whatever the weather

The Nostromo is a technical, lightweight thermal jacket, built to stay comfortable whatever the weather. Its H2XTREME® waterproof, breathable outer membrane (15,000mm) lets moisture escape while keeping water out, and its Thermolex™ high loft insulation, a synthetic alternative to down, holds warmth without the bulk of real down.

Grand-Froid expert's view

In Scotland, where fine rain can fall without warning, this kind of outer membrane changes everything compared to a simple water-repellent finish: water doesn't get through, even in sustained rain, and the built-in insulation means you don't need to layer a thermal jacket on top. The manufacturer's classification places the Nostromo in the Cold range, from +5°C / 41°F to -10°C / 14°F ; the figure shown corresponds to the coldest end of that range. Thermolex™ high loft insulation holds body heat, and the H2XTREME® membrane blocks rain and wind without trapping body moisture. This jacket covers a wider range of use than a simple water-repellent shell, but remains a lightweight technical piece — not a parka for prolonged standing outdoors in severe cold.
