Protection against the elements with controlled ventilation for active effort

Faced with long winter rains and freezing winds, a thick fabric is not enough: water always eventually seeps through needle holes. The Brighton jacket solves this problem with its fully taped seams, ensuring total blocking of bad weather. Designed for active work, it incorporates a secret weapon: zipped underarm vents. These openings allow the immediate release of excess heat generated by heavy physical exertion, thus preventing sweat without having to open the coat to the freezing wind.

The Extreme Cold Expert's Opinion

On a winter site, sweat is your worst enemy. You unload materials, you get too hot, you unzip your jacket, and the cold wind strikes you down. The underarm vents on the Brighton completely change the game: you open them during manual labour to create an internal draught, while keeping your core perfectly protected by the front insulation. It is a very intelligently designed garment.

What is it for?

The Brighton jacket is tailored for professionals exposed to degraded weather conditions (rain, snow, wind) requiring a wide range of motion.

  • Exposed outdoor work: construction, roofing, roadworks, where taped seams block water penetration over time.
  • Intermittent physical effort: logistics, material handling. Underarm zips prevent the "sauna" effect of a closed jacket.
  • Driving open machinery: windproof protection is total on the torso.
  • Freezing environments: with EN 14058 certification, it guarantees insulation in moderately low to extreme temperatures (down to -10 °C when active).

Thermal protection & Standards

This garment is certified EN 14058 (protection against cold environments). Its insulation relies on thick polyester padding that traps a large volume of warm air. The outer coating blocks the "windchill" effect. The thermal protection is achievable during tasks requiring continuous physical effort, provided you wear the appropriate base and mid-layers. In a completely static position, this garment will insulate you effectively around 0 °C to -5 °C.

Care & Durability
  • Machine wash at 30 °C.
  • Strictly close all zips before washing to avoid damaging the waterproof membrane.
  • Strict ban on fabric softeners: their chemical agents destroy the waterproofing treatments of outer fabrics.
  • Air dry. Avoid tumble drying and direct proximity to a hot radiator.

Pro Tip: The Art of Using Vents

Cold dampness is formidable because water (sweat) negates all the thermal properties of your clothes. The golden rule with the Brighton jacket is anticipation.

  • Do not wait until you are sweating: As soon as you begin a demanding task (shovelling, carrying loads), open the underarm zips. Do not leave them closed "until you feel hot".
  • The chimney effect: By opening the axillary zips while keeping the chest zipped, you create a thermal depression that sucks excess body heat outwards, without exposing your vital organs to direct wind.
  • As soon as the effort stops: Immediately close the underarm zips. Your body is dry, and the residual heat will remain trapped in the padding.

* Indicative temperature during moderate to sustained activity. Perceived cold varies depending on metabolism, humidity, and the base layers worn (Layer 1 and 2).
